The Easiest Way to Maintain Your Fountain

If there was an easy way to clean your fountain, wouldn't you like to know? Well there is. A shop vac! It's easy. Take the filter out and suck away all the junk and goo.

Another tip to clear away the junk and goo is to splash a little vinegar in the fountain to keep the algae from forming.

As I have written before a fountain is a great addition to any garden. Keeping it clean and clear and you will enjoy your fountain always.

The Importance of Containers

It's almost time to plant for fall. OK we have 3 weeks or so, but I am getting excited about the cool temperatures to come and changing out our containers. As I drive around town I see tired containers everywhere. To me, homes with no containers stand out like sore thumbs. They seem uninviting in a way. To see a container at the entrance of a home welcomes and is truly the first bit of hospitality you extend to someone as they drive to your home.
You have watched the HGTV shows. When they put a pot of plants any place in the yard things look freshened. I was watching one of the shows and they re-did the neighborhood in addition to re-doing someone's front yard. It truly was amazing to see the transformation of just a home that had a front door painted and 2 containers planted with annuals and placed in the front.
I also tell everyone that placing pots at the front door is an extention of the decor in the house. Not as many people see the inside of your home as they see the front yard. Make it the best that it can be.
